Situation:

  • Our client had in developmental phase, a new treatment for a rare form of cancer.

  • The on going strategy was dependent on being able to assess treated prevalence, patient burden and treatment algorithms.

IMS HEOR Approach:

  • IMS HEOR assessed case history data with the IMS Oncology Analyzer database

  • supplemented this with targeted recruitment of new cases

  • conducted a telephone-based survey to increase the power of prevalence estimates.

Outcome:

  • Our client gained considerable insight into the major markets and now has a dossier with detailed treatment information and algorithms for 5 major markets.

  • reasonable estimates of prevalence

  • additional information that could be used to support a health economics case in the future.
