Cost-Effectiveness and budget impact - oncology
Situation:
-
Our client had demonstrated in clinical trials the efficacy of a new adjuvant therapy for early prostate cancer (EPC). To gain reimbursement status the cost-effectiveness relative to standard care and potential impact on payer budgets needed to be demonstrated.
IMS HEOR Approach:
-
IMS HEOR developed an appropriate disease based model to project outcomes versus standard treatment over a 5-year time horizon.
-
Model development involved a detailed literature review to determine accurate data inputs including transition rates to disease states and establishing associated quality of life measures, as well as conducting local cost and market surveys.
Outcome:
-
Based upon compilation of an extensive and country specific cost-effectiveness and budgetary impact dossier, the client received immediate reimbursement status.
-
Our client had evidence of the positive impact of their drug on both quality of life outcomes and disease progression in both clinical and economic terms.
